Chon Buri is about 80 kilometres southeast of Bangkok and can be reached by road via the Bangkok-Chon Buri Motorway or Highway 34. Buses and minivans run from Bangkok's eastern bus terminals to Chon Buri and Bang Saen. The city also has a railway station on the Eastern Line. Once in Chon Buri, songthaews (shared pickups) and local buses connect the city centre with Bang Saen and other nearby areas. Taxis and motorcycle taxis are available for shorter trips, and renting a car or motorbike is common for exploring the wider province.

The best time to visit Chon Buri is during the cool season from November to February, when temperatures are milder and rainfall is lower.
