Getting there and around
From BTS Ari exit 3, walk west into Soi Ari 1, past the small temple and the local wet market on your right. Continue into the residential blocks, turning left at the T-junction to loop through Soi Ari 3 and 4 (the coffee shop sois). Come out onto Phahonyothin, cross to the east side, and walk into Soi Ari Samphan 5 for The Yard and more small cafés. Return via Soi Ari Samphan back to the BTS. Best done 9-11am before the heat. It's 25-30 minutes to the Grand Palace (BTS + taxi or bus) and 15-20 minutes to Siam/Sukhumvit shopping.

Ari is best explored in the morning, between 9-11am, before the heat sets in. The neighbourhood's coffee shops and markets are lively then, and you can walk the sois comfortably. Evenings are quiet by 11pm on the residential sois, with a low hum of activity around the BTS. For avoiding the worst heat, consider the cooler months from November to February.
