4-star hotels in Silom
Sixteen 4-star hotels in Silom, Bangkok's financial district that turns into Patpong night market after dark. This shortlist is for business travellers, couples and solo visitors who want central Bangkok without Sukhumvit, and who care about guest ratings and what each hotel actually offers.
Staying in Silom
Silom is the road running from Rama IV down to the Chao Phraya river, and functionally it is Bangkok's financial district — a wall of towers around Sala Daeng. On a Tuesday morning at 8am it is suits and iced coffee; on a Friday at 11pm the same pavement is the Patpong night market. The vertical slice matters more than the horizontal: Soi 1 is corporate, Soi 2 and Soi 4 are the dense gay bar area, Soi 3 to Soi 6 is Indian and Nepalese restaurants, and past Surasak BTS it turns residential and Portuguese-Catholic. Convent Road is walkable, rare for this city.
The hotels here sit on and just off that spine — Silom Road itself, Surawong Road, North and South Sathorn Road, Soi Pipat, Soi Kaysorn and Jaras Wieng Road, with a few on Narathivas Rachanakarin Road and one across the river on Soi Charoennakorn. Business travellers get the bank towers on foot; couples get rooftop bars and the river piers for the Grand Palace ferry. Families with kids should note the jammed pavements and aggressive night market, and anyone chasing quiet should look elsewhere.

Where to stay in Silom
Silom Road
The main road itself: bank towers by day, Patpong night market and go-go bars behind it at night. State Tower Silom By Haloth, Holiday Inn Bangkok Silom by IHG, Triple Two Silom and Sapphire Hotel Silom Bangkok all address onto Silom Road, so the BTS and the bars are on the doorstep. Pavements here are jammed and the night market is aggressive.

ASAI Bangkok Sathorn on North Sathorn Road, Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Sathorn by IHG on Soi Pipat, Holiday Inn Express and Suites Bangkok Central Pier by IHG on South Sathon Road and Sabai Sathorn on Sathorn Soi 10 all sit here, near Convent Road and the walkable stretch past the Bangkok Christian College.

Plan your stay
Getting there and around
From Suvarnabhumi, take the Airport Rail Link to Phaya Thai (45 baht, 30 min), then BTS to Sala Daeng (three stops, change at Siam, 30 baht). A taxi from the airport is 350-450 baht, 45-75 min depending on traffic — the toll is the driver's responsibility only if you agree upfront. Inside Silom the BTS Silom Line has three stations within the district: Sala Daeng, Chong Nonsi, Surasak, plus Saphan Taksin at the river. The MRT Blue Line adds Silom station and Sam Yan. For the Grand Palace, walk to Saphan Taksin, take the orange-flag Chao Phraya Express Boat to Tha Chang pier — 15 baht, 20 minutes, beats any taxi.
When to go
Silom flips hardest between business hours and after hours, so pick your timing by what you want from the street: a Tuesday morning at 8am is suits and iced coffee, while a Friday at 11pm is the Patpong night market and bars spilling onto the pavement. The Sri Mariamman temple on Pan Road holds pujas every morning at 6.30. Beyond that, the site gives no month-by-month guidance for this district.
