Getting there and around
Koh Samui is served by Samui International Airport (USM), which receives flights from Bangkok and other Thai cities. Alternatively, you can fly to Surat Thani on the mainland and take a ferry to the island. Ferries also connect Koh Samui with Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. Once on the island, songthaews (shared pickup trucks) are a common way to get around, especially along the main ring road. Taxis and motorbike rentals are also available. Note that Samui has a limited public bus system, so most visitors rely on songthaews, taxis, or rental vehicles.
