About Hang Dong
Historically, Hang Dong formed part of the Lanna kingdom, and its temples reflect that heritage. Wat Si Don Chai and Wat Phra That Chom Koi are among the local religious sites, while the Kad Farang and Hang Dong markets serve as community hubs. The district is also known for craft and furniture workshops, particularly along the Chiang Mai–Hang Dong road, where visitors can browse handmade goods.
Today, Hang Dong blends rural landscapes with modern conveniences. The area is home to international schools, golf courses, and the expansive Royal Park Rajapruek, a botanical garden created for the 2006 Royal Flora Ratchaphruek exposition. Its position on the route to Doi Inthanon and other southern attractions makes it a practical base for exploring the region.
