From Suvarnabhumi it is 25 minutes and 40 baht direct, no transfer — about as convenient as central Bangkok gets. The catch is that no BTS or MRT runs directly into Pratunam; the nearest BTS stations are Chidlom, a 10-minute walk south, and Ratchathewi, a 10-minute walk west. Inside the area, walking works, though pavements are broken. The Khlong Saen Saep canal boat at Pratunam Pier beats a taxi to Ekkamai or the Old Town during rush hour: 10-20 baht, loud, and involves stepping onto a moving boat. To the Grand Palace, about 5km west, take the canal boat to Panfa Leelard pier, then walk or take a short taxi.
