Getting there and around
Rawai is about 18 kilometres south of Phuket International Airport, a drive of roughly 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic. The airport has direct flights from Bangkok and other major cities. From the airport, you can take a taxi or arrange a private transfer. Local songthaews and buses run between Phuket Town and Rawai, but they are not frequent. Once in Rawai, the best way to get around is by motorbike, car, or taxi. Songthaews also serve the main road. Many visitors rent a vehicle for flexibility.
When to go
The best time to visit Rawai is during the dry season, from November to April, when the weather is generally sunny and rainfall is low. This is also the high season, so expect more visitors. The monsoon season runs from May to October, with more frequent rain and rougher seas, which can affect boat trips. Temperatures are warm year-round, typically between 25°C and 32°C. If you want fewer crowds and lower prices, the shoulder months of May and October can be a good compromise.
