Getting there and around
Getting around here is a BTS job. Thonglor has its own station, and the hotels on this list also sit near Phrom Phong and Ekkamai on the same line, along Sukhumvit. Bangkok traffic is legendary and Thonglor is not spared: Soi 55 during rush hour, 5pm to 9pm, can crawl at walking pace. The rule is BTS wherever you can, motorbike taxi for the last mile on Soi 55, and never book a taxi to arrive somewhere at a specific time during rush hour — build in 45 minutes buffer. For airport runs, leave a full hour earlier than Google Maps suggests.
When to go
Thonglor's food and drink strip is best walked from 4pm to 8pm. Start at BTS Thonglor exit 3 and head north on Soi 55: the first 300m bring J-Avenue mall, then Roast and Peppina in The Commons complex on Soi 17, then Soi 55/13 with Seenspace. At Soi 25 you can cut back south through the parallel sub-sois past Bangkok Prep International School and Villa Market, and finish with a drink at Rabbit Hole on Soi 55/8 or a rooftop at Octave.
