About Sikao

Where to stay in Sikao

Pak Meng Beach. The main beach area in Sikao, with a long sandy shoreline facing the islands; many resorts and restaurants line the road behind the beach.

Mai Fat. A subdistrict that includes Pak Meng and extends inland; it has a mix of local communities, rubber plantations, and some smaller hotels.

Khlong Son. A coastal subdistrict just south of Pak Meng, known for its fishing villages and quiet beaches; a more local atmosphere.

Trang City. The provincial capital, about 40 kilometres inland from Sikao; it offers markets, shops, and transport links, and some visitors stay here and day-trip to the coast.

Getting there and around

Sikao is about 40 kilometres from Trang city. Trang has an airport with flights from Bangkok, and a railway station on the southern line. From Trang, you can take a local bus, songthaew, or taxi to Pak Meng and other parts of Sikao. The journey takes around an hour. Pak Meng Pier is the departure point for boats to Koh Mook and Koh Kradan. Within Sikao, songthaews and motorbike taxis are common, but having your own transport gives more flexibility to explore the scattered beaches and villages.

When to go

The best time to visit Sikao is during the dry season from November to April, when the sea is calm and the weather is suitable for beach activities and island trips. The rainy season from May to October brings rough seas and some businesses may close, though the landscape is green and rainfall is often in short bursts. The temperature remains warm year-round, typical of southern Thailand.
