About Pathum Thani

The province is best known in Thailand for its concentration of higher education institutions, above all Thammasat University's Rangsit campus and the Thailand Science Park nearby. Rangsit is the main commercial and residential district, with shopping malls, hospitals and a large student population. Khlong Luang and Lam Luk Ka are other sizeable districts, and the Chao Phraya and its khlongs still shape local life. Two hotels are listed on our site here, a 4-star and a 3-star property, with an average guest score of 4.2 out of 5.

Where to stay in Pathum Thani

Rangsit. The province's most urban district, with malls, universities and easy road access toward northern Bangkok; PP@Hotel Rangsit is listed here.

Khlong Luang. Home to Thammasat University's Rangsit campus and the surrounding student and research community, with a mix of local housing and services.

Lam Luk Ka. A quieter, partly agricultural district east of the main north-south corridor, known for its khlong-side communities and open land.

Pathum Thani town (city centre). The historic provincial seat on the Chao Phraya, with the provincial hospital, old temple sites and a slower, small-town feel; Tinidee Hotel Bangkok Golf Club is listed here.

Getting there and around

Pathum Thani has no airport of its own; most travellers arrive via Bangkok's Don Mueang or Suvarnabhumi airports and continue by road. The province is crossed by major highways and by the northern railway line, with commuter trains stopping at stations such as Rangsit. Public buses and taxis connect the districts with each other and with northern Bangkok, while songthaews and motorcycle taxis cover shorter local trips. A car is useful for reaching spread-out sites and industrial estates.

When to go

The cool season, from November to February, is the most comfortable time to visit, with lower humidity and less rain. March to May is hot, and the southwest monsoon brings frequent rain from roughly May to October. Pathum Thani has no beach season, so travel is mostly dictated by work or study calendars rather than weather. Temple fairs and Thai festival dates vary by year.
